Acupuncture the Traditional Way

Acupuncture is an integrated medical system that originated in China thousands of years ago. Fine needles (as thin as hair strands) are inserted into the skin at strategic points on the body in order to restore health or “qi”.
This also stimulates healing and energy and promotes relaxation. Many people seek acupuncture for anxiety and stress disorders. In a 2017 article in anxiety.org*,  research performed by Medco Solutions in 2010 revealed that more than one in five Americans took medication for psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and depression. Among women, that number rose to 25%. Side effects and long-term effects of such medications are significant and cause other health issues.
One of the draws to acupuncture (besides the curiosity of it being an exotic, ancient technique) is the powerful effects to relax the overstimulated nervous system. Patient in our office report a sensation of waking from a deep sleep (some did but most times they likely just dozed off), a lighter feeling on their feet or the “clouds lifted”. Better sleep, better moods, less pain are also commonly experienced.

The “Qi” flows through pathways in our body called meridians. There are an estimated 20 meridians and 400 acupuncture points in the human body.  So, you can imagine how much training a traditional acupuncturist goes through to be able to proficiently diagnose and treat disorders stemming from the imbalance or blockage of “qi”.

In the Western World, acupuncture is very new. The FDA gave acupuncture its first seal of approval in 1996, classifying acupuncture needles as medical devices.

Dr. Zair has a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture from the Phoenix Institute of Holistic Medicine and Acupuncture. He has been treating patients in the greater Phoenix area and those visiting Phoenix for over 15 years. His comprehensive sessions include tongue and pulse reading to accurately evaluate the all systems and target not only the blockages causing your symptoms but those abnormalities which are also silent.

The advantage you have at our wellness center is the fact that Dr. Zair is also a licensed chiropractor.
